Chicken and Asparagus Sauce for Pasta

1 chicken breast, finely diced
2 shallots, finely chopped
1/4 lb asparagus, sliced into 1/2" slices, tender parts only
2 tbs butter
1 tbs grated lemon rind
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
salt and pepper to taste
Parmesan cheese (optional)

Melt butter in a skillet. Add diced chicken cook 10 minutes stirring
a few times. add shallots and cook 1 minute. Stir in asparagus
cook 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in broth and
cook to reduce to half. Add cream and lemon rind Bring to boil.
Serve on pasta You may add Parmesan if you like.
