Meat spaghetti sauce

1/4 cup olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 lb. lean ground beef
4 cloves garlic, chopped
6 large ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 cup dry red wine
1 cup beef stock
2 bay leaves
salt
pepper

In a large skillet on medium heat, saute the onion until it is
transparent. Add the ground beef and garlic and saute approximately
5 minutes, until the beef is evenly browned. Add the tomatoes to
the beef.

Add the tomato paste, wine, stock, bay leaves and salt and pepper
to taste. Stir until well blended, then cook, uncovered, on low
heat for 1 hour, stirring frequently

Makes 6 cups.
