BAKED APPLE DUMPLINGS
6 apples, peeled and cored 3/4 lb suet crust pastry sugar to taste
Roll out pastry to even thickness (not sure of thickness but recipe is for 6 apples roll accordingly); cut into rounds large enough to completely wrap apple.
Sprinkle apple with sugar to taste. Wrap each apple in crust pinching it together to seal and enclose apple in a reasonably even thickness of crust. Bake at approx. 375 F for 40 to 60 minutes. (I think I would make a small hole in the top to allow steam to escape.)
Suet Pastry
8 oz self rising flour 4 oz beef suet salt to taste water
Sift flour into bowl, sprinkle in suet and salt and mix lightly until suet is evenly distributed. Sprinkle with cold water and mix firstly with a round bladed knife and then with your hands to make a smooth elastic dough that leaves the side of the bowl. Allow to sit for 5 minutes and then roll to desired thickness.
