Ring-Ding Filling/Frosting

1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 tsp. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

In small saucepan, mix flour and milk, Stirring constantly until
mixture just comes to a boil and thickens. Remove from heat and
allow to cool to room temperature.

Beat margarine and shortening for 4 minutes with mixer. Add sugar
and beat for 4 minutes. Add milk/flour mixture. Beat 4 more minutes.
Add vanilla and beat an additional 4 minutes.

Note: This recipe is time consuming, but well worth the effort.
Very light and fluffy and not cloyingly sweet. It is important
to beat for the full 4 minutes after each addition.
