French Ribbons

about 2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 Tbs. sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs beaten
2 tsp rum or 1 tsp rum extract

Sift the dry ingredients together including the sugar. Cut in the
butter and then stir in the eggs and rum. Knead to hold mixture
together and roll out dough very thin on lightly floured surface.
Cut in strips 1/2 wide and 6 inches long. Carefully shape into
bows and fry in deep hot fat until golden. Drain on paper and
sprinkle with powdered sugar while hot.
