Hamburger Country Pie
1/2 cup chunky tomato pasta sauce
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped green peppers
1/8 teaspoon oregano
1 1/2 cups cooked rice or mashed potatoes
1 1/2 cups chunky tomato pasta sauce
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
In a bowl, combine pasta sauce, bread crumbs, onion, salt, pepper,
ground beef, green pepper, and oregano, mixing well with your hands.
Pat into a deep 9-inch pie pan; flute edges.
Place the rice or mashed potatoes in the prepared hamburger crust.
Pour the pasta sauce on top.
Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Remove
foil, sprinkle cheese on top of filling, and bake for 15 minutes
