Shepherd's Pie

1 lb mince beef
tomato puree
small tin tomatoes
mixed herbs
oxo cube or meat stock cube
1 onion chopped
4 or 5 large potatoes
margarine
milk
cheese

Chop the onion and fry in a little oil. Add the meat and fry until
brown on all sides. Add the tin of tomatoes, some tomato puree
(to taste) and a sprinkling of herbs. Sprinkle the oxo/meat stock
cube over the top, mix and leave to simmer for about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, peel and boil the potatoes until soft (about 20 - 25
minutes) and mash using the margarine and milk.

Put the meat mixture in a fairly deep casserole dish, and spread
the mashed potato on the top, using a fork to spread evenly and
make nice pretty patterns on the top! Put in the oven at about
150 C and cook for one hour. Serve with gravy and peas. When the
pie comes out of the oven, as an extra you can sprinkle grated
cheese over the top and grill for about five minutes until brown.
