Tamale Pie

1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green pepper
2 8-oz cans tomato sauce
1 can whole kernel corn (drained)
1/2 cup pitted ripe olive, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 to 3 tsp chili powder or to taste
dash of pepper

1 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 tsp salt
2 cup cold water
1 Tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 375 Cook meat, onions, and green pepper in a large
skillet till meat is lightly browned and the vegetables are tender.
Stir in tomato sauce, corn, olives. garlic, 1t of salt, chili
powder, and pepper. Simmer 20 to 25 minutes or until thick. Add
cheese; stir until melted. Turn into greased 9x9x2 baking dish.
Make Cornmeal Topper: Stir cornmeal and 1/2 tsp salt into cold
water. Cook and stir till thick. Add butter; mix well. Spoon
over hot meat mixture. Bake about 40 minutes or until the cornmeal
mixture is done. Makes 6 servings.
