Turtle Pie
1 9 inch pie crust, baked 12 caramels 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate 1/4 cup butter or margarine 2 eggs 2 tablespoons water 1 teaspoon vanilla dash salt 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Heat oven to 325 degrees. In a small heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt caramels with 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk. Spread evenly on bottom of prepared pastry shell. In a med. saucepan, over low heat, melt the chocolate with the butter. In large mixer bowl, beat the eggs with remaining sweetened condensed milk, water, vanilla and salt. Add chocolate mixture; mix well. Pour into prepared pastry shell. Top with pecans. Bake 35 min. or until center is set. Cool. Chill. Refrigerate leftovers.

This pie was very easy to make. It took a good bit of time to melt the caramels in the sweetened condensed milk on low so I put it on med-low and that was much faster. Also, you should cook it at 350 for 35 minutes, not 325. The center didn\'t set at 325 but it did at 350. Otherwise, it\'s a very delicious pie. Nothing fancy to look at, but it was great!!
