Christmas Krupnik
1 cup honey 1 cup water 6 cloves 1 cinnamon stick 2-inch vanilla bean dash of freshly grated nutmeg 3 inch piece of lemon peel, zest (yellow part) only 1 inch piece of orange peel, zest (orange part) only 2 cups vodka
Heat the honey, water and spices in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Watch pot carefully so it does not boil over. Cover, turn off the heat and allow to steep for at least 20 minutes to half an hour. Add the vodka and serve hot.
This recipe may be made in advance and reheated. It keeps very well if strained and decanted.
It wouldn't be Christmas Eve in our family if I didn't make the krupnik. Each year I bring back honey from any trips we take during the year. The various types of honey give the krupnik subtle flavor changes. Fabulous! Good for a cold or flu...or just a wintery night.

This drink takes the chill off winter. Very traditional Polish liquor for Christmas.
