BBQ Ribs

1/4 cup chopped onions
1 Tbsp drippings or other fat
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp vinegar
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, reserve the lemon halves
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 cup chili sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp paprika

2 lbs spareribs

Preheat oven to 500 degrees.

Saute onion in fat until brown. Add remaining sauce ingredients
(including reserved lemon haves) and simmer for 20 minutes.

Cut spareribs into serving size pieces and place in a roasting pan.
Cover with waxed paper. Bake at 500 degrees for 15 minutes.

Remove ribs from oven, reduce heat to 350 degrees. Remove waxed
paper and pour the barbecue sauce over meat. Bake for 1 more hour,
basting frequently with the pan liquor.
