GOLDEN FRIED CHICKEN

4 - 6 chicken pieces
salt and pepper to taste
a little flour
1 egg, beaten with 2 Tbs water
breadcrumbs
1/2 lb chippolata sausages
2 - 3 ears of corn on the cob
2 - 3 bananas
juice of 1 small lemon
good pinch nutmeg (optional)
oil for frying

Remove skin from chicken, season well and sprinkle with flour.
Dip first in egg and water mix, then in breadcrumbs. Pour oil into
frying pan to 3/4 inch in depth; when hot, fry chicken quickly on
both sides. Pour off all but 2 Tbs of the oil, reduce heat and
chippolatas; cook 15 - 20 minutes until chicken and sausages are
cooked. Cut each corn cob into 4 - 5 pieces and add to the chicken
halfway through cooking time, turning occasionally to cook corn
evenly. Peel and thickly slice the bananas; sprinkle with lemon
juice to prevent browning then sprinkle with nutmeg; add bananas
for the last few minutes of cooking.
