Bread and Butter Pickles

25 small cucumbers, about 1 inch in diameter, approximately 1 peck
12 small onions

1 quart vinegar
4 cups sugar
2 tsp mustard seed
2 tsp celery seed
1 tsp turmeric

Slice cucumbers and onions. Mix together with 1/2 cup salt. Let
stand one hour or more. Rinse and drain.

Combine vinegar, sugar, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric.
Boil the cucumber/onion mixture in this solution for 3 minutes.
Pack in sterilized pint jars and seal.
