Bread and Butter Pickles

30-40 medium cucumbers, sliced
6 medium onions, sliced

6 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp turmeric
1 1/2 tsp celery seeds
2 tablespoons mustard seeds
7 cups apple cider Vinegar

Sprinkle plain salt (no iodine) over the cucumber and onion slices.
Mix and let stand 3 hours. Drain and rinse well.

Mix together sugar, turmeric, celery seeds, mustard seeds and
vinegar. Pour mixture over cucumbers and onions. Bring to a hard
boil, stirring often to prevent scorch. Remove and put in clean
hot jars. Seal well.
