DILL PICKLES

2 qt. cider vinegar
4 qt. water
2 cup coarse salt
1 tsp. alum
1 tsp. black pepper

Bring this to a boil. Wash medium sized cucumbers. Pack in jars
(any size). Place a large dill pod to each quart. Cover with
boiling mixture and seal. If you want hot pickles, place a hot
pepper and garlic in each jar.
