Pickled Onions

2 pounds white pickling onions
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon whole mixed pickling spices
2 cups white wine vinegar

Cover the onions with boiling water. When cool, pare them and
cover them again with boiling water into which the 2 tablespoons
of salt have been put. When cool, drain and pack in sterilized
jars.

Bring the white wine vinegar and the whole spices to the boiling
point and pour over the onions. Seal the jars and cover.
