14-Day Sweet Pickles

In large glass container add 1 cup of salt to 1 gallon of cucumbers
and water and let sit for 4 days. Rinse off. Add 2 tablespoons alum
for 24 hours,wash off. Cover with vinegar and let sit for 10 days.
Drain and wash off. Add spices and 3 cups of sugar. Next day add
3 more cups of sugar. Next and final day add 3 more cups of sugar.
I tried this recipe last year and it makes some very good pickles.
The sugar will make the liquid that the pickles will be stored in.
