Peanut Sauce

Combine 1 cup water, 2/3 cup peanut butter (any style) and two
minced cloves garlic and cook over medium heat until boiling.
Remove from heat and stir in 2 tbs. brown sugar, 1.5 tbs. lemon
juice, 1 tbs. light soy sauce and 1/4 to 1/2 tps. chili paste or
crushed red pepper. Let cool.


Gado-Gado (an Indonesian dish of raw to slightly cooked vegetables
covered with the above sauce)

1 pd green beans, ends removed and cut into 1-inch pieces
3 large boiling potatoes, cubed
1/3 pd. bean sprouts, coarsely chopped
1 medium cucumber, julienned
3 cups finely shredded cabbage
1 large carrot, cut diagonally into thin slices
3 hard-boiled eggs, wedged (optional)

Fully cook the potatoes, blanch the bean sprouts and parboil
everything but the cucumbers. Toss with sauce.
