1/2 lb bacon, diced
2 large onions, sliced
6 carrots, sliced
1 small head cabbage, shredded
2-1/2 cups beef broth
2-1/2 cups water
Salt and pepper to taste
Slices of French bread
Cook bacon in large, heavy saucepan until crisp. Remove and save.
Discard all but 2 Tbsp of fat from the pan. Add onion and carrots
and saute 5 minutes, stirring now and then. Add cabbage, broth,
and water. Bring to a boil; simmer 30 minutes, or until cabbage is
tender. Season to taste. Serve with slices of toasted French bread.
