Zippy Corn Chowder

1 lb hot sausage meat
2 cups beef stock
1 large onion, chopped
1 (16 oz) can creamed corn
3 large potatoes, sliced thin
1 (16 oz) can whole kernel corn, undrained
2 tsp salt
12 oz light cream
1 tsp basil
1 tsp red pepper (cayenne)

Crumble sausage in a skill let and brown. Drain off fat put
sausage in a deep pan Return two Tbsp. of the fat to the pan and
add the onion to the sausage. Add potatoes, salt, pepper, basil
and stock. Cover and simmer 15 minutes Stir in the creamed corn,
liquid, corn and cream. Cover and heat almost to boiling. Serve
with Italian bread

Variation: Substitute turnips for potatoes.
