Asparagus Cream Soup

6 cups of beef bouillon
1 medium onion, chopped fine
1 cup of oatmeal
1 lb asparagus, tips removed ( other vegetables can be used )
optional - handful of rice or barley (already cooked)
Salt and pepper to taste

Saute onions in butter or oil until soft. Add all other ingredients
except asparagus tips and rice or barley. Bring to a boil over
medium heat and simmer for 30 minutes, then place in blender to
puree. Return to pot and add other ingredients and simmer for 5-10
minutes, until tips are soft. Do not over cook or tips will
disintegrate.
