Mushroom and Almond (or Pecan) Pate
1 cup slivered almonds 1 clove garlic 1 small onion 3/4 lb mushrooms, coarsely chopped 1/4 cup butter 3/4 tsp salt (or less) 1/2 tsp thyme 1/8 tsp pepper 2 tbsp salad oil
Toast almonds at 350F for 10 minutes or fry 'til lightly brown.
Chop garlic and onion extra-fine in food processor. Melt butter and cook the vegetables with the seasonings until liquid is evaporated (about five minutes).
Process almonds 'til paste (very fine) and add all the other ingredients. Process together about 10 seconds.
