Vegetable stock

Chop 1 large onion, 3-4 carrots, 2-3 celery stalks, 1 clove garlic
minced and put into a kettle. Fill with desired amount of water
and add some salt and pepper to taste, just a pinch of dill and
celery seed. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 hours.
You can also add 1-2 Vegetable bouillon cubes, if you like. Let
cool and strain.
