Mock Bacon
Slice half a block of extra firm tofu into 1/4 inch thick slabs or slices. Pan fry these in some light tasting vegetable oil over a medium-low heat for 6-8 minutes on each side. You want the tofu to be crisp and golden brown on each side. While the tofu is frying, mix together 2-3 tablespoons of tamari soy sauce with a few squirts of liquid smoke.
When the tofu is done, drain off any excess oil then pour the tamari/liquid smoke over the tofu. Stir/flip the tofu around in this for about a minute. Finally, sprinkle a tablespoon of nutritional yeast over the tofu and stir this around some more so that the tofu is nicely coated with the tamari/smoke/yeast mixture. What you have now is something very bacon-like in taste.
