BASIC ROAST RECIPE

Select one from each category

PROTEIN 2 Cups

beans
lentils
tofu
TVP


CARBOHYDRATES 3/4 to 1 C.

whole wheat bread crumbs
bread stuffing, dried
uncooked oatmeal
cooked brown rice
crushed corn flakes
bulgar wheat, soaked


NUTS 1/2 C. chopped or ground

peanuts-raw
cashews-raw
almonds
walnuts
sunflower seeds


BINDING

3 T. potato flour
2 T. soyflour
1/2 C. cooked oatmeal
1/2 C. cooked cream of wheat
2 eggs


LIQUID 1 to 1 & 1/2 C. as needed

tomato juice
tomato sauce
milk
soy milk
vegetable broth


VEGETABLES 1/2 - 3/4 C. for flavoring and texture

onions, chopped
green onions, chopped
celery


SEASONING 1/4 t. of herbs, one or more

sage
poultry seasoning
sweet basil
thyme
rosemary
Italian seasoning
parsley
bouquet garni
cumin
oregano


SALTY SEASONING (optional)

salt
soy sauce
garlic salt
celery salt


FAT 2 T.

olive oil
vegetable oil
margerine

Mix together. Press into an oiled loaf pan. Bake 45 min. at 350
F. Serve with a light sauce/gravy if desired.
